12th Dec: after a few more trials with the garratt I put a different meths burner in sealed the surrounding gaps so the air only came through the burner and I also put a new fire door in which made a huge difference to lighting up. During previous runs I noticed that the beats where merging into one slightly so I opened up the blast pipe slightly which improved the beat and drawing the fire through, she now makes steam instead of staying at the same pressure and is a joy to use at last to see her running at the east surrey group see loco stock
